CORPORATE SUMMARY
Ease of Life Products (EOLP) develops
simple, safe and effective assistive devices for the Durable Medical Equipment
(DME) and Home Medical Equipment (HME) markets. Through the use of our
products people with disabilities will experience greater independence.
EOLP was formed in 2003 as Ease of Life Products, Inc.
and registered as a New York limited liability corporation in January
2007. After ten years of extensive research and development, EOLP has
sought to commercialize its first product offering.
EOLP’s initial product offering is the Minishopper Model
410, a portable and collapsible side-mounting frame specifically made
to attach to a variety of wheelchairs. The Model 410 frame is the first
in a series, designed to accommodate a number of alternative accessories
and attachments such as bags, luggage, computer laptop cases and hospital
IV poles to suit the needs of private end users and their caretakers as
well as the needs of businesses, facilities and institutions that serve
people with disabilities.
EOLP is developing other interchangeable attachments
and accessories such as the Minishopper bags that are customized for the
Model 410 to increase product versatility. Additionally, the company is
creating new design adaptations to the Model 410 frame to appeal to an
even wider array of wheelchair models.
INDUSTRY HIGHLIGHTS
According to The Wisconsin Innovation Service Center, the
U.S. market for home care products and equipment continues to post steady
gains, primarily as a result of the aging population and increasing shifts
of chronic care patients from hospitals to home. In 2004, an estimated
16 million people received home health care in the United States, and
most of these individuals also used associated home care products. Through
2009, the numbers of home care patients will continue to grow as patients’
life spans are extended.
- An estimated
15 to 16 million Americans use wheelchairs, and the highest rate of
wheelchair users is among older adults. Almost three percent of the
population ages 65 and older use a wheelchair and about 59 percent are
women.
- As of
2005, the revenues generated from manual wheelchair sales was $38.4
million and had already outpaced and surpassed the projected revenues
of all durable medical equipment for 2015 as reported by Health Guide
USA. Manual wheelchair revenues are expected to reach over $100 million
by 2012.
- In 2007,
healthcare technology represented 54% of all deals in the healthcare
industry totaling $172.9 billion. By 2010 healthcare spending is expected
to reach $2.6 trillion, 16.8% of GDP.
- The Census
Bureau reports that from the years 2010 to 2020, people between the
ages 65-84 will increase by 39 percent; from 34 million in 2010 to 47
million by 2020. Ailments facing boomers will include vision impairments
and difficulty with mobility. These latter two problems are projected
to affect more than 30-40 million people.
COMPANY HIGHLIGHTS
EOLP holds one patent and is patent pending
on its current product offering. In May 2007, EOLP was
granted its operating and registration number with the (FDA) Food and
Drug Administration. Ease of Life Products has secured its name and trademark
with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
The company completed funding for the development of initial prototype
and subsequent enhancements. Additional functionality of the Model 410
and accessories have been designed.
The Company has identified the top wheelchair manufacturers and distributors
to support an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) licensing approach
for the Minishopper 410. An OEM licensing partnership will be mutually
beneficial, as it will add value to the participating firm’s existing
global product offering and create greater industry exposure for EOLP.
EOLP employed The Wisconsin Innovation Service Center
(WISC) in Whitewater, Wisconsin to conduct an in-depth product feasibility
and market survey analysis. WISC specializes in new product and invention
assessments and market expansion opportunities for innovative manufacturers,
technology businesses and independent inventors. Since 1980, WISC has
researched the viability of over 6,000 projects. The research from the
WISC report identified and validated market size, relevant trends as well
as our competition.
